Today, let us explore how to make room for God in 2022.
As, 2021 drew to a close, I decided that this year, I didn’t need lofty new year’s resolutions.
Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with goal planning and many people really benefit from intentional goal lists.
I started 2021 off with an awesome, prayerfully planned vision board and I quickly achieved quite a bit of goals on it.
I am certain that I achieved some of the visions from that board purely out of providence so I definitely recommend doing one.
These types of things can certainly be a catalyst for change.
For some reason too, the awareness of a brand new year seems to bring hope of a new slate. Perhaps we see it as a chance to get things right.
Determine to Make More Room For God
Whatever approach you decide to take this year however, determine from the onset to prioritize making more room for God.
We have to first make the conscious decision.
2022 will be a successful year for us if we make it successful spiritually.
We therefore need to decrease so that He can increase in our lives.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.” – John 3:30
How to Make Room For God Practically
The first practical step we must take to involve God in our 2022 is by making this a prayer point.
We won’t make much headway if we decide to simply do this in our own strength.
We need to call on the Holy Spirit, our most loyal friend and Helper.
Here is the simple prayer I prayed in my YouVersion app:
I Just Want You – 2022
Lord, what is time? Your, great God are limitless and You exist outside of time. Teach me to number my days Lord and not to live my life being so beholden by the future that I fail to make full use of my present. Lord, for 2022, I just want more of You Lord Jesus. I want my days to be saturated with You. Holy Spirit, make me more like Jesus every day. Help me to seek You and live out Your love. Deepen my understanding of Your Word and fill me with Your Light. Help me to use my time to honor You. Let me not stray. Be the center of my life and the Author of my to-do list.. Oh Lord, I just want You all up in everything. Transform and lead my thoughts and make me ooze Your love Jesus. Holy Spirit, fill me up I pray, in Jesus's name. Amen
Again, “this will be your best year yet, if you make it your best year spiritually”.
I have heard this awesome quote before. Likely, I heard it from either Pastor Michael Todd or Pastor Charles Metcalf from Transformation Church.
How To Make Room For God Through Worship Music
One practical way to make room for God in 2022 is to surround yourself with worship music.
Create a playlist of songs on Spotify or just keep YouTube worship songs playing in your background.
Just saturate the atmosphere with songs of praise.
Constantly singing worship songs is such a practical way for us to be stating faith.
So many gospel songs are scripture-based. They are a sort of subconscious way to speak out God’s promises.
We end up declaring biblical affirmations through the power of the spoken word.
Furthermore, I firmly believe that we ward off evil spirits and armor up when we immerse ourselves in praise music.
Make Room by Jonathan McReynolds
Here is one of my favorite worship songs for washing off spiritually and preparing myself to spend time with God prayerfully.
Please take the time to be still and watch this video. Try to blot out distractions and allow the sincerity in this powerful performance to minister to you. It is such an anointed song.
Here are the lyrics:
I find space for what I treasure I make time for what I want I choose my priorities and Jesus you're my number one So I will make room for you I will prepare for two So you don't feel that you Can't live here, please live in me I find space for what I treasure I make time for what I want I choose my priorities and Jesus you're my number one Yes, Jesus you're my number So I will make room for you I will prepare for two So you don't feel that you Can't live here, please live in me I will make room for you I will prepare for two So you don't feel that you Can't live here, please live in me Live in me yeah Please live in me God I will make room for you My will (You can move that over) My way (You can move that over) My ego (You can move that over) My plans (You can move that over) My schedule (You can move that over) My itinerary (You can move that over) See I, I will make room for you My habits (You can move that over) My attitude (You can move that over) Whatever it is (You can move that over) That's not like you (You can move that over) Whatever it is (You can move that over) You can move it over (You can move that over) Oh, see I will make room, yeah Whatever it is (You can move that over) That's in your way (You can move that over) Whatever it is (You can move that over) If it takes your space (You can move that over) See whatever it is (You can move that over) Oh, I don't want it there (You can move that over) Oh, see I will make room I wanna seek you first (You can move that over) Get the odd things out the way (You can move that over) I wanna seek you first (You can move that over) Move it all out the way (You can move that over) See whatever it is (You can move that over) Lord, I just want you (You can move that over) Oh, so I will make room, yeah See whatever it is (You can move that over) You can move it all (You can move that over) Please just move it all (You can move that over) Help me move it all (You can move that over) Jesus I (You can move that over) I just want you know (You can move that over) That I will make room I find space for what I treasure I make time for what I want I choose my priorities and Jesus you're my number one Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Jonathan Caleb Mcreynolds

I love this article, so practical! Worship music helps me to center on God and I will be more intentional about listening to spirit led music in 2022. I love Johnathan McReynolds’. Maverick City also has some powerful songs.
