Stating Faith

Soul Cry – Using Scripture to Walk On Water

Today, rather unexpectedly, I found great need to send up a soul cry to our Abba.

You know those moments, days or just seasons where it is just tough to be in the middle?

Where the waiting is just hard despite our resolve to stay faithful?

Staying positive and saturating my atmosphere with worship is my usual stance.

An observer may wonder why it is that this lady here is always listening to the audio bible, playing gospel music or taking in a Christian podcast.

They just might entertain the idea that I think I am holy.

I have actually been “accused” of that.

That however, is quite the compliment…but I digress.

So, without honing too much into the specifics of my current soul pain, I was reading a devotional on parenting earlier when the scripture, Deuteronomy 4:9 was highlighted.

While the focus was on how intentional we need to be in passing down our faith to our children, I was arrested by the first half of that scripture.

Keep Your Soul Diligently

Moses’ sobering instruction to ‘keep your soul diligently’ rang out because that is precisely what my whole being needed to respond to.

We make a point to nourish our bodies daily and we also put effort into nourishing our mind as well.

Most people will have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to education – thus, feeding their mind.

Only some of us though, take the time to consider feeding our soul.

Now how does one do this?

I believe we’re in fact constantly feeding it.

Whatever we meditate on or allow to enter into our consciousness, at all times, feeds our soul man.

You will agree with me right, that what we listen to influences our internal dialogue?

Similarly, our internal television often replays what we allow our eyes to behold.

So, like Moses preached thousands of years ago, we for sure need to keep our souls diligently.

~Praise Break~

This praise break is sung by a Trinidadian band and it is so aptly titled and oh so different. I find it to be quite a gift.

Soul Cry Scriptures

The beloved Holy Scriptures records numerous instances of soul cries from our spiritual ancestors.

There is something undeniably potent about revisiting and meditating on them.

I fully believe that praying these will help to nourish our own souls and help us walk on water metaphorically.

Follow along with me as I search through our sacred guide book to find other instances that highlight soul cry scriptures we can lean on for strength.

Note that because my search was exhaustive, I will only share 30 verses with you today.

30 is a nice number for those of us who like to journal.

Below we have a month’s worth of verses to journal out or simply pray through each day.

Enjoy!
