Here are my sermon notes from Elevation Church preached on June 19, 2022 by guest preacher, Pastor Jabin Chavez.
As always, please remember that these are just my notes.
Even though I made extra effort to capture as many pertinent points as possible, it is best for you to watch the full message.
This is the only way to get everything he shared and glean for yourself, what I missed.
I pray this message blesses you.
Sermon Notes: One Life
Key Passage – Genesis 12:1-3
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:1-3 ESV
What Could God Do With One Life?
- In our immaturity, issues etc
- God use one story and change a life – 1 Corinthians 1:26-27
- You are exactly who God wants to use
- God doesn’t use perfect people because they do not exist
- Some people re just better at covering their flaws than others
- God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called
- If God has called you, no one can cancel you
- If God has called you, don’t wait another moment to step into that
- Our corporate Yes changes the world
In order for your life to make a difference:
You Need a Word
- God never shows up without a Word
- God knows how powerful words are…with just one word
Yahweh is God’s most holy and appropriate name
- Yahweh means the uncreated One.
- God has a name, Yahweh. God is a title not a name.
- Abraham used to be polytheistic – He had a god for everything
- Stop running to little g gods. Yahweh(I AM) is here
- We all settle for little g gods
- god of culture
- god of approval
- Any god that you can control, your flesh likes
- that’s why they are called strongholds
- another word for strongholds is ‘caskets’
- Our God is real
- His voice can be heard
- His presence can be felt
You need One Risk
- You can have control or you can faith but you can’t have both
- Every good or God thing you want in your life is outside of you comfort zone
- The call of God requires leaving your plan for God’s plan, leaving your will for God’s will
- You have to Leave familiar
- If you’re not careful, you will sugar-coat your past
- The devil will fool you into missing the good of your past instead of the ills of your past
- Every time God moves the people in Israel, He would change their diet but there was a Promised Land
- You have to make it to through the manna and the quail. If you just wont quit in the wilderness, there is fruit for you
- Yo have to be willing to leave where you are for what God has for you
- I cannot break the curse and stay in the familiar
- I cannot step into the new thing until I let got of the old thing
- This step of faith happens more than once
- “God, if you’re in it, I want it” – Javid
- Nothing great will happen in the comfort zone
- Something will feel like a risk to us but it isn’t to God…He knows.
- If it feels scary, don’t worry
Leave and Go
God first says ‘leave’ and then right after ‘Go’ to Abraham
- If God shows us everything, faith will not be required
- There is the ‘going’ but then there’s also the ‘making’
- The transformation is not in the destination
- Where there is clarity, faith is not required
- In the midst of uncertainty, follow Jesus
- Let following God be your constant
- You never follow God horizontally, You follow Jesus vertically
- Psalm 84 – strength to strength
- John 1 – grace to grace
- Romans 1 – faith to faith
- Just Follow Jesus
- Let God be your one consistent. If you will go, He will make you
- Trust Him to do the making. He will lead you beside the still waters
- Stop saying ‘when I get there’
- I would rather be a God-made man than a self-made man
- God’s blessings doesn’t just stop with material things. What God wants to do for you, He wants to do ‘through’ you
- So what’s your one move?
