Micah 7:7 – Wait on the Lord

Today, let us pour over this beautiful bit of scripture found in Micah 7:7.

As per usual around here, we will use the S.O.A.P bible study method.

This just means we first examine the scripture.

Then we observe the verse in as much detail as possible.

We follow that up by seeking practical applications of the verse for our own lives.

Finally, we pray the verse to God.S.O.A.P rocks.

Let’s dive in:

Scripture – Micah 7:7

But as for me, I will look to the Lord;  I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

Observation

Micah makes this declaration after lamenting about the untrustworthiness of people.

The narrative leading up to this verse seems to point to a sad reality that man can be depended on to disappoint.

This verse then shows where Micah chooses to put his trust.

“But as for me,” is one of those set apart phrases in the bible that shows the author taking a resolute stance.

Rather than dwelling in defeat and despair, Micah chooses to look to his God of Hope.

He determines to wait on the Lord.

Micah fully believes that God will hear and help him.

Application of Micah 7:7

We, like Micah, must be resolute in our decision to wait on the Lord.

We live in undoubtedly trying times. Through the pandemic, through the unstable economy, through daily stories of death, we believers must be set apart.

It is so crucial for us to cling to our Hope.

We must not be as reactive as the rest of the world.

In Jesus, we indeed have hope. Believers must look to the Word for daily renewal.

We do not have to let cynicism creep in.

The joy and peace of the Lord is ours.

The ailing world needs us to claim our identities and then pour out the love of Christ on them.
