I have a spiritual nightly bible vaccine ritual to administer to my children to strengthen and protect them.

I am being generous and sharing this with you. After all, it was shared with me by a mighty woman of God.
Nightly vaccine?

Spiritual nightly vaccine at that… What on earth could I mean?

Here goes…true story:

Disclaimer – I am not referring to a medical vaccine. Let’s make that clear even though I hope this is super obvious.

What is amazing to me is that I got this gem prior to all the worldwide announcement of the corona virus pandemic .

This Nightly Vaccine is a blessing – a series of words spoken over children that appears to be very old. 

I have not been able to track down the original author.

I wonder if it was in fact mother I will share about shortly.

Essentially, I speak these words over my children as a way of tucking them into bed with blessing.

They repeat the words line by line and go off to sleep spiritually boosted.

The Name – Nightly Bible Vaccine

In early 2020, pre-covid, an awesome human whose name I don’t recall shared such a moving testimony of the strong faith  of her mother. We were both  members of a Transformation Church Belong group.

See, I was already meeting online prior to the mandate to stay quarantined and for churches to be closed.

Back to the story…

Her mother had recently passed. She shared how while she surely missed her mother, she had a strong sense of peace over the loss.

Her mother made her feel so filled with love and anchored in faith. She had no doubt whatsoever that she was indeed resting in heaven.

My attention was piqued when she testified of her mother’s diligence in praying a nightly vaccine over her her and her sibling for years upon years.

The very name was interesting enough.

She shared how hearing these blessings at night helped her feel loved and safe.

What a beautiful story right?

I felt myself being touched by a life I didn’t even know.

This late believer inspired me.

I immediately latched on to the idea. I was stoked when she offered to search for it and send it to me.

Here is what she sent:

The Nightly Bible Vaccine

I listen to God
And I do what He says
And He allows no sickness on me
Because He's the Lord that heals me
And I serve the Lord
And He blesses my bread and water
And takes sickness away from the midst of me
Surely Jesus
Bore my sickness
And carried my pain
And with His stripes, I am healed
God's Word is life to me
And health to all my flesh
I keep God's Word when I lie down
And I'm not afraid
And my sleep is sweet
So I refuse to have bad dreams
I refuse to get sick
I stay healed
Every part of my body
Feels good all the time
The Word of God
The Blood of Jesus
The name of Jesus
And the  angel of the Lord
Surround and protect
My life and property
And that of my friends and family
So that nothing ever hurts me 
And I always have plenty of money
And everybody likes me
And wants to help me
Because I love God
And want to help Him
I obey my parents
I honor my father and mother
So it goes well with me
And I live long on the earth
And the Lord protects me from all evil
Thank You Jesus!

Now truth be told, I have not been as diligent as the late heroine mom I told you about.

I started the routine and the kids enjoyed it.

In fact, they got so into it that they would be the ones to shout out, “Nightly vaccine time mom!”

Still, I faltered and messed up with the excuse that I was too tired(shameful but true) or made them listen to a bible story and called it a night.

The Holy Spirit bought it back to memory and since I am convicted to return to this lovely, edifying ritual, I am sharing with you too.

Coincidence or Providence?

I remain in awe of the name for this nightly blessing. At the time I received it, as I mentioned before, I didn’t even realize that the whole world was rapidly moving into a serious preoccupation with vaccines.

Here was this mamma building up the spiritual health and dare I say, the physical and overall heal,h of her children with such a powerfully titled prayer.

As believers, we are not lost on how much power can be in a name.

Let us, like this lady, be very intentional with our words.

Let us be guided by the Spirit of God to use life-giving names that breathe life into what we do and say.

Blessings Before Bed

Whether you borrow the nightly vaccine or you create a completely different one, I do hope you will be inspired to speak a blessing over your children before bed.

With all the negative messaging constantly available in their days on the devices, it will be on of the greatest gifts to help them with their spiritual armor.

You can use scriptures like Numbers 6:24-26 NLT

		24 ‘May the Lord bless you
		and protect you.
		25 May the Lord smile on you
		and be gracious to you.
		26 May the Lord show you his favor
		and give you his peace.’

or  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV
		16 Rejoice always,
		17 pray without ceasing, 
		18 give thanks in all circumstances; for 
		this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
